1. Preamble
1.1 Our mission. Mirror helps you use your phone more consciously, with screen time tracking, app blocking, a progression game and lessons to build healthier digital habits.
1.2 Publisher. Mirror is published by Jordan Gloaguen, sole proprietor, 61 rue Chevalier de Kermelec, 29000 Quimper, France. Contact: contact@playmirror.so.
1.3 Hosting.
- App servers: Google Cloud Platform (Firebase), Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
- Website: Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.
1.4 Privacy. Mirror never sees what you do inside your apps; the detail of your usage stays on your phone. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
1.5 Acceptance. By downloading, installing or using Mirror, you accept these Terms of Service (the “Terms”). If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use Mirror.
2. The service
2.1 Features. Mirror is available on iPhone and Android. Depending on your device and plan, it offers:
- tracking of the time spent on your distracting apps, compared with a daily goal;
- blocking sessions: quick sessions, recurring sessions and daily limits, for apps and, where your device allows it, websites;
- Strict Mode and pauses, according to the settings chosen when a session is created;
- a progression game: your avatar, your streak, moons, Vacation Mode, and avatars to unlock and name;
- the journey: lessons and content to build better habits;
- an invitation program;
- an optional account (Sign in with Apple or Google) to keep your progress across devices.
Features may evolve over time, and some are reserved for Premium.
2.2 Dependency on your phone’s system. Mirror relies on tools provided by Apple (Screen Time frameworks) and Google (Android permissions such as usage access, the accessibility service and display over other apps).
- Without these authorizations, measuring and blocking can’t work. You can revoke them at any time in your phone’s settings.
- System updates, and some manufacturers’ battery-saving settings, may affect how Mirror works. Mirror cannot be held responsible for these changes.
3. Account and security
3.1 No mandatory account. Mirror works without an account: a pseudonymous identifier is created the first time you open it. You can sign in with Apple or Google to save your progress and find it again on another phone. Without an account, your progress may be lost if you change phones.
3.2 Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings > Account. Deletion is permanent: your progress (streak, avatars, rewards, invitations) can’t be recovered. It does not cancel your subscription.
3.3 Device security. You are responsible for the security of your phone. We recommend protecting it with Face ID, a fingerprint or a passcode.
3.4 Minimum age. Mirror is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you are a minor, you confirm that your parent or legal guardian agrees to your use of Mirror.
4. Subscriptions and purchases
4.1 Offers. Mirror offers a free version and a Premium subscription (monthly or yearly) that unlocks additional features. A free trial may be offered. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it becomes a paid subscription.
4.2 Payment. Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) through your store account. Prices include applicable taxes. We may change our prices; changes apply from the next renewal, following the store’s rules.
4.3 Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage this:
- on iPhone: Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions;
- on Android: Google Play > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
4.4 Refunds. Purchases are subject to Apple’s or Google’s refund policies. Mirror cannot refund store purchases directly: contact Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play.
5. Invitation program
- Codes. Each user can share a personal invite code or link.
- Rewards. When a new user validates your code under the conditions shown in the app, you may receive rewards (for example avatars or Premium access).
- Fraud. A person can only be invited once. Inviting yourself, creating fake accounts or manipulating devices is prohibited. We check invitations, including with device checks provided by Apple and Google, and may refuse, cancel or withdraw rewards obtained fraudulently.
- Value. Rewards have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged, sold or transferred. They are tied to your account and are lost if you delete it.
- Changes. We may change, suspend or end the program at any time. Rewards already obtained remain valid for their stated duration, unless they were obtained fraudulently.
6. Game features
Your streak, moons, Vacation Mode, avatars and other rewards are game features: they have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged. Their rules are described in the app and may change to keep the game balanced. We do our best to preserve your progress, but we can’t guarantee it against data loss, especially if you haven’t signed in.
7. Intellectual property
7.1 Mirror’s rights. All elements of Mirror, including code, design, graphics, avatars, logos and the “Mirror” trademark, are the exclusive property of the publisher.
7.2 License. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use Mirror for personal purposes. Any reproduction, modification or reverse engineering is prohibited.
8. Your content and feedback
8.1 Names you choose. You are responsible for the names you enter (your first name, your avatars’ names). Don’t use offensive content or other people’s personal information. Your first name may be shown to the people who use your invite code.
8.2 Feedback. If you send us suggestions or ideas (“Feedback”), you grant us a free, worldwide, perpetual and irrevocable right to use them, without compensation or credit.
9. Limitation of liability
9.1 No guaranteed results. Mirror is a tool. We don’t guarantee that using it will make you more productive or improve your well-being; results depend on your own commitment.
9.2 Strict Mode and Emergency Mode.
- Some sessions can be set up with no possible pause (Strict Mode). During such a session, you can’t access blocked apps until it ends, even by restarting your phone. By turning on Strict Mode, you accept this restriction.
- Emergency Mode, when available, lets you end your active sessions a limited number of times, as shown in the app.
- Mirror is not responsible for any inconvenience or emergency during a Strict Mode session. Always keep essential apps (phone, messages, health, maps) out of your block lists.
9.3 Availability. Mirror is provided “as is”. We don’t guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free; interruptions may occur, notably for maintenance or after system updates.
9.4 Financial liability. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher’s total liability is limited to the amount you actually paid for Mirror during the twelve (12) months before the claim. For users of the free version, it is limited to twenty euros (€20).
10. Suspension
We may suspend access to all or part of Mirror, including rewards, in case of fraud, abuse or breach of these Terms. You can stop using Mirror at any time and delete your account.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and we will let you know about significant changes. If you keep using Mirror after they take effect, you accept the new Terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
12.1 Governing law. These Terms are governed by French law.
12.2 Disputes. We will always try to find an amicable solution first.
- For disputes between professionals, the courts of Quimper, France, have exclusive jurisdiction.
- In accordance with Article R. 631-3 of the French Consumer Code, consumers may also bring a claim before the courts of their place of residence.
